EICR – Electrical Installation Condition Report
What is an EICR?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a comprehensive assessment designed to identify potential dangers in your property’s electrical system. This inspection evaluates the overall safety and condition of the electrical installations, ensuring they meet the required standards. It is essential that an EICR is conducted by fully qualified, insured, and experienced electricians who can properly assess the condition of your system.
During an EICR, several critical tests are performed to evaluate the electrical systems in your property. These include earth measurement readings, bonding tests, continuity checks of protective conductors, ring circuit continuity, insulation resistance, polarity testing, earth fault loop impedance, RCD (Residual Current Device) tests, and visual inspections of circuits.
Our certified electricians bring extensive experience in diagnosing and identifying faults across electrical systems in a variety of properties, ensuring the safety and functionality of your installations.
How long will an EICR take and how much will it cost?
The time required to perform your assessment will depend on the size of your property. On average an EICR takes around 4-6 hours.
Why do I need an EICR?
All properties need regular electrical testing to stay safe. The time between tests depends on the type of property. For the best safety, tests should be done at these intervals:
Domestic Property: 10 years
Rented Houses: 5 years
Other Property Types: Please enquire
How we do it
We dedicate the time needed to perform all necessary tests, ensuring that your property’s electrical systems are entirely safe.
We thoroughly test cables in your property, including sockets, lights, and light switches, to guarantee your safety. Our observations are carefully documented, and if any faults are identified, we provide recommendations for remedial action.
Any issues found during the EICR are classified into three codes: C1, C2 and C3
Code C1
This observation means “Danger present. Risk of injury. Immediate remedial action required”
Code C2
This observation means “Potentially dangerous, urgent remedial action required”
Code C3
This observation appearing in an EICR report means “Improvement recommended”
